From combat boots to photoshoots, from PBR to NASCAR, the glamorous Monster Girls are one of the key components of the marketing strategy for Monster Energy, one of the most iconic beverages to ever hit the global market.
In fact, Monster Girls are such an integral part of the brand’s marketing model that they stand as one of the company’s “pillars” which include: Monster Girls, Action Sports, Music, and Gaming. In an interview with AListDaily, Former Sr. Vice President of Global Marketing Marianne Radley spoke to the key positioning of the models as a part of fan engagement and brand awareness: “The Monster Girls are beautiful, smart, energetic, edgy – they’re everything that Monster is.”
With every event, Monster draws in more and more consumers who can’t wait to get their hands on those black and green cans. And to no surprise, it also draws interest from a myriad of women who are eager to model said cans. So how does a hopeful young lady become one of the energetic, edgy, and ubiquitous Monster Energy Girls?
In 2022 I was scrolling through my social media as a recent college graduate (and subsequently job-hungry individual) when I stumbled upon my friend Erin’s recent post. Wearing sleek leather pants and a spandex top, I stared in awe as her perfectly blonde locks draped around her sparkly M-shaped necklace. Intrigued, I messaged Erin and asked her about her part time job as a Monster Girl. She encouraged me to apply by sending my photos and information to the email MonsterGirlCastings@MonsterEnergy.com
I had also noticed that Monster utilizes modeling agencies to staff their Monster Girls, two of which are The Ross Agency and Michele & Group. So naturally, I applied to The Ross Agency as well after submitting to the general casting email.
A few weeks later, I got an email from one of the agents at TRA checking my availability to work as a promotional model at two upcoming music festivals. In the subject line: Monster Energy. I thought to myself…Yes! I’m In!
My first two bookings as a Monster Girl were…an adjustment to say the least. I wasn’t expecting to be standing at a music festival in scorching weather with my makeup melting off and my hair extensions blowing away in the dusty wind, but hey, at least it was a very fun time! Myself and the three other models (all of whom were new, like me) learned very quickly that being a MG isn’t all glitz and glam, it’s also some elbow grease! On my second booking I goofed and wore the incorrect uniform, and when your look is a huge part of your job, it was an unfortunate mistake. Let’s just say the agent was a little peeved…
After my uniform mishap a few months went by and I didn’t hear much regarding another booking. But lo and behold, in my inbox pops an email with another availability check for a last minute event in a more remote area. Ahh…redemption! And after putting my best foot forward for that event, the rest is history. I am grateful to be a Monster Energy Girl and, for the last two years, have been afforded the opportunity to travel with the brand to many different events – even different parts of the country! There is a wonderful camaraderie among the Monster employees, the models, and the entire staff that I am so lucky to be a part of.
So if you are a young woman reading this and you’re interested in becoming a Monster Energy Girl, let me give you my best advice.
